David Clark Allison, James Edward Allison, Edgar Frederick Bissantz, William Henry Harrison, Benjamin Parker, Austin Cruver Whittlesey

Active 1910-1942

Firm Notes

Allison and Allison, Architects, operated in Pittsburgh, PA, before transferring their partnership to Los Angeles, CA, where it operated as Allison and Allison from 1910-1942; James Edward Allison was known to have travelled to California as early as 1903.

Allison and Allison operated their headquarters at 408 South Spring Street, Room #1405 in 1914. (See San Pedro and Wilmington, California, City Directory, 1914, p. 2509.)

In 1928, the firm was located in Room #1005 of the office building at 408 Spring Street. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1928, p. 2265.)

The experience of the Allison Brothers' firm paralleled that of the Beezer Brothers in Seattle, WA. Both sets of brothers left Pittsburgh, PA, during the busy first decade of the twentieth century and established thriving practices on the Pacific Coast. The Allisons left PA in 1910 and worked until the onset of the World War II. The Beezers arrived in Seattle in 1907, just before the start of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition of 1909, and maintained their practice until the depths of the Depression.
