Firm Notes
Architects Myron Hunt, (1868-1952), and Elmer Grey, (1871-1963), both Midwestern transplants, operated a prolific and influential office in Los Angeles, CA. Interestingly, while Hunt and Grey began to work together in 1903, the Los Angeles City Directories for 1903(p. 1705)and 1904(p. 1750) listed only Hunt's name. (Hunt's office in 1903 was in Room #415 of the Lankershim Building in Los Angeles. He moved the following year to Room #1017 of the Braly Block.) The Los Angeles City Directory of 1905(p. 2001), listed Hunt and Grey separately but in the same office in Room #1017 of the Braly Block. By 1907, finally, Hunt and Grey were listed as a partnership still operating in the Braly Building, 408 South Spring Street. (See Los Angeles City Directory, 1907, p. 1651.) Hunt and Grey still remained in Room #1017, but the building's name had changed to the "Union Trust Building." (See Los Angeles City Directory, 1908, p. 1599.)
They dissolved their partnership in either late 1910 or early 1911, with each opening his own practice. In 1911, Grey had an office at 405 South Hill Street, Room #811, while Hunt remained in the same office. (See Los Angeles City Directory, 1911, p. 1601.)
