Firm Notes

Howard and Galloway formed in the wake of the San Francisco Earthquake of 04/18/1906, and was headquartered in San Francisco, CA; the firm took a prominent role in the rebuilding of San Francisco, after which both partners took on numerous civic duties and wrote prolifically. Howard, for example, joined the San Francisco Advisory Committee for rebuilding in 1906. John Debo Galloway was an expert on steel-frame construction, and wrote extensively on the subject. John Galen Howard worked on his own after 1910.
