Kirk, listed "interior decorator" as his profession on a draft registration card of 06/05/1917 or 1918 and the U.S. Census of 1920; in c. 1917, he worked at the Walker Dry Goods Company, Main Street, Salt Lake City, UT. Spencer Kirk, Sr., was born in Tooele, UT, southwest of Salt Lake City, (10/27/1887-d. 03/25/1941 in Seattle), while both of his parents, James Kirk and Mary Peasnall, had come from England.
Spencer Blair Kirk's mother, Vine H. (Blair) Kirk, was born c. 1886 in MI. Vine Kirk's father, Joseph Blair, (born c. 1864) came from French Canada, and her mother, Clara Blair (born c. 1866) from MI.
Blair Kirk had three siblings, a brother, Paul Hayden Kirk (1914-1995), who became a noted architect, and two sisters, Virginia L. Kirk (born c. 1917 in UT and presumably deceased before 1930) and Marjorie M. Kirk, born c. 1922 in UT.

The Seattle Times indicated in its 08/05/1937 issue (p. 25) that Blair Kirk, of 5254 36th Avenue NE, Seattle, had obtained a marriage license with Lucille Epstein, of 408 Bellevue Avenue North, of the same city. (See "Marriage Licenses," Seattle Times, 08/05/1937, p. 25. The State of Washington indicated that a marriage license was filed on 08/07/1937.)
