Relocation

Born in Manhattan, NY, Corbett lived in there for a short time during the 1900s, before his parents relocated to Southern CA before 1910. In 1910, the Corbetts made their home in Ballona, a section of the town of Ocean Park, near Santa Monica, CA. The household included Mario's parents, brother Noel and a household servant Ann A. Gilbert (born c. 1889 in IA). Their dwelling was on "Ocean Spray" which may correspond to Ocean Avenue in Ocean Park today. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation Year: 1910; Census Place: Ballona, Los Angeles, California; Roll: T624_79; Page: 3B; Enumeration District: 0009; FHL microfilm: 1374092, accessed 03/22/2023.) The Corbetts remained in the Los Angeles area until at least 1913.

By 1918, at age 16, Corbett lived with his family at 1492 Pacific Avenue in San Francisco, CA. This information came from his "Application for Seaman's Certificate of American Citizenship, Department of Commerce, Bureau of Navigation, 07/02/1918."
