Born in Laramie, WY, Walter Stromquist's family moved to CA between c. 1915-1930. His parents lived at 152 6th Street in Laramie in 1910. Eulalia Stromquist, Walter's mother, was widowed by 1930. She lived in that year with her 3 children in a residence at 609 Oregon Avenue, Palo Alto, CA. The family owned this house, valued at $10,000.

Stromquist attended the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), by the early 1930s.

He spent the rest of his life in the Bay Area. Stromquist's last residence was in the 94304 zip code of Palo Alto.

Parents

His parents were Eben C. Stromquist (born c. 1877 in KS), a university teacher, and Eulalia S. Stromquist (born 12/17/1880 in IL-d. 11/1970 in Palo Alto, CA); Eulalia's parents were both from Sweden. Eben and Eulalia were married c. 1904, perhaps in NJ. Walter had two siblings, a brother, C. Eben (born 12/03/1907 in NJ-d. 09/02/1988 in Castella, CA) and sister, Ruth C. (born c. 1914 in WY).
