According to a Los Angeles Times article entitled "Construction," of 10/10/1996: "The merger of San Francisco-based Dinwiddie Construction Co. with Santa Clara-based E.A. Hathaway creates one of the state's largest building contractors. Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Co. will have a strong presence in each of the three leading California markets: the Los Angeles area, the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. The transaction will maintain Dinwiddie and E.A. Hathaway as separate companies jointly held under the Hathaway Dinwiddie umbrella." (See
