Building History
As early as 1963, the UW had begun long-range planning for two sections of its campus, the southern area and the central zone. According to a note in the publication, Architecture / West, two firms were hired to study the south and central area: "The appointment if two architectural firms to the Universiy of Washington's Long-Range Planning Council in developments plans for the south and central campus areas have been approved by the University's Board of Regents. Naramore, Bain, Brady & Johanson, Seattle, will assist in the development pland for the south campus area, and Walker & McGough, Spokane, in the programming and planning study for the central campus area." (See "Awards and Appointments," Architecture / West, vol. 69, no. 2, 02/1963, p. 8.) NBBJ completed this South Campus Plan by about 1964.
