"The Sanctuary of the University Unitarian Church...was designed to bring in as much natural light as possible for morning services; hence, a deep gap was left between the converging roof planes so that an outsize clerestory, facing east, could run the sanctuary's length. The off-center clerestory fills the west side with light. The larger side of the sanctuary is darker and lower, and here, paradoxically, is where the altar is placed."
