"Beginning Friday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials will open the first floor of the Hiram M. Chittenden Ballard Locks visitors center. Access to the pededstrian bridges will open April 28. The public restrooms will remain closed until March 3. The fish ladder will remain closed until further notice because of an upcoming maintenance project, according to an announcement. The historical administration building will remain closed to the public as well. According to the news release, if the number of COVID-19 cases gets worse, restrictions could back into place. Gate hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. beginning April 28. Locks staff ask that commuters travel straight through and practice social distancing while crossing. Masks are required in or [sic] outdoors.
