Stanton made a terse comment on the controversy that surrounded the design by Walter Netsch of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill's Chicago Office of the Chapel at the US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO (1956-1962): "The employment of the distinguished architects for the above project was decided only after considerable deliberation. Responsible clients accept the advice of responsible counsel. It is regrettable that such practice has not prevailed."
