Born in Iowa, Stanton moved to Oregon at about age 20. He died of a stroke at 74.

His father, John Stanton worked as a cabinetmaker; Arthur Glenn Stanton's mother was Carrie Stanton.

Known as Glenn Stanton; Stanton held Oregon Architect License # 0169. Stanton had the distinction of being the first American Institute of Architects member selected President from the Pacific Northwest.
