Professional Activities

Edward Flanders served as the Vice-President of the San Francisco Architectural Club in 1918. (See Architect and Engineer, vol. LVI, no. 1, 01/1919, p. 112.)



Born in Butte, MT, Flanders lived in San Francisco, CA, rooming with the Bond Family at 141 Chattanooga Street, according to the 1910 US Census. He would later marry Edna Bond, daughter of the Lottie Bond (born c. 1865 in TX), who owned the residence. He lived in Burlingame, CA, at 1355 Cortez Avenue ten years later. At the time, his mother-in-law, Lottie Bond, and brother-in-law, Leland Bond (born c. 1889 in CA), a plumber, also shared the Cortez Avenue dwelling. Both of Flanders's parents had immigrated from Ireland.


He married Edna M. Bond (born c. 1885 in LA). her mother's father was from Alsace, the contested territory between France and Germany.


He and Edna had a daughter, Peggy Aileen Flanders (1918-1990)

Biographical Notes

Documents disagreed as to the date of Flanders's birth. His World War I Draft Registration Card indicated that he was born on 11/03/1887.
