Résumé

1st Lieutenant, US Army Air Forces (USAAF), World War II. Theriault enlisted on 04/24/1943, and was stationed at the Santa Ana Army Air Base (SAAAB), Santa Ana, CA, and at the Walker Army Airfield, Hays, KS. According to his obituary published in the South Whidbey Record, "Theriault flew 35 missions in the Pacific during World War II, sometimes flying 18 hours over open ocean. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal." (See South Whidbey Record, "Robert D. Theriault," accessed 04/24/2017.) Theriault was decommissioned from the USAAF in 12/1945.

Theriault was born in Tacoma, WA, in 1922; in that year, his parents resided at 2004 I Street in Tacoma. (See Tacoma, Washington, City Directory, 1922, p. 671.) An obituary indicated that he had been born in Sacramento, CA, although this does not appear to have been correct.

The Theriault Family resided in Sacramento, CA, for several years from at least 1923 until 1926. Robert lived with his parents and sisters at 2117 29th Street in Sacramento, CA. (See Sacramento, California, City Directory, 1926, p. 508.)

In 1930, Theriault lived with his family at 2004 I Street South, Tacoma, WA; the family owned its own house--valued at $2,000--located in a working class section of town. His last residence was at 1980 East Bay Vista Place, Freeland, WA, on Whidbey, Island.

Theriault was buried in the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.

His father was Isidore Theriault (born 07/29/1892 in Tacoma, WA-d. 02/28/1971 in the same city), a house carpenter, and his mother, Helen A. Beaumont Theriault (1897-1974), who managed the household. (In 1917, Isidore worked as a shipwright for the Olympia Shipbuilding Company, Olympia, WA.
