Henry Clayton Young was born in ? He went professionally by the name "H. Clayton Young" or simply "Clayton Young." In 1930, he lived with his parents Gordie and Lola at 724 Shelby Street in Frankfort, KY, paying $50 per month in rent for their house. This rent was more than that paid by immediate neighbors, which tended to be closer to $20 per month.

Young died at age 81 in King County, WA. He was interred with his second wife Sally at the Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Lake Forest Park, WA.


His parents were Gordie Young ((born 09/11/1884 in Muhlenberg County, KY-d. 02/14/1975 in Franklin County, KY), an educator, and Lola Florence Bivin (born 06/13/1887 in Kirkmansville, KY-d. 01/05/1932 in Frankfort, KY), also a school teacher. In 1910, Lola's mother Emma also was a school teacher. Lola and Gordie wed on 05/21/1914 in Hopkinsville, KY.

By 1930, Gordie Young served as the Assistant State School Superintendent in KY, while Lola no longer taught. After Lola's premature death from cancer at age 44 in 1932, Gordie remarried to Ruth Theobald Young (born 08/28/1892 in Louisville, KY-d. 09/23/1959 in Frankfort, KY). Clayton had an older sister Frances Lee Young Arthur born 10/01/1917 in Muhlenberg County, KY-d. 02/05/2001 in Naples, FL). She wed William Bollin Arthur (born 09/06/1914 in KY-d. 12/10/1997 in FL), a Louisville newspaperman.


Clayton Young married to Jean Alice Linden (1922-1975), his wife and business partner, on 06/19/1948 in Detroit, MI.

Jean and Clayton later divorced.
