Born in Los Alamos, California, Wickenden spent much of his childhood in San Luis Obsipo. As a student at the University of CA, he lived at 2425 Prince Street in Berkeley, CA, in 09/1918 and at 2377 Virginia Street, Berkeley, in 1926; he, his wife, Virginia, and daughter, Margaret, paid $40 per month for rented quarters at 2826 College Avenue, Berkeley, in 1930; they lived at 1408 Spring Way, Berkeley, c. 1932-1938; Wickenden died in Alameda County, CA, at the age of 67.
His father, William F. Wickenden (born 06/1861 in CA), was a retail grocer in 1900; His mother was Margaret (Maggie) Sauer Wickenden (born 07/12/1864 in CA)ran the household.
