B.Arch., Harvard University, Cambridge, MA; studied art and architecture in private ateliers in Paris, and later assisted his father in the family mural painting business; Following duty in the service during World War I, Garnsey moved to Los Angeles and started to paint architectural murals on his own; steeped in the educational methods of the French Academy, Garnsey served as a director for the Beaux-Arts Insitute of Design in New York and taught at Princeton University, 1942-1946;
Father was Elmer E. Garnsey, a noted muralist;
