William Turnbull, Jr., operated his own architectural office in San Francisco, CA, between 1984 and 1997. The firm won the American Institute of Architects' (AIA) Firm of the Year Award, in 1995.

After Turnbull's death in 1997, the firm was succeeded by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop, Architects, located in Berkeley, CA.
