In 2013, this firm had offices in Portland, OR, and Seattle, WA. It was founded in 1983 in Portland, OR, by Stewart Ankrom and Thomas Moisan. By 2017, the firm had offices in Portland (38 NW Davis Street, Suite 300, Portland, OR 97209), Seattle (1505 5th Avenue, Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98101), and San Francisco, CA (1014 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103). The San Francisco office opened in 2016.

The firm's location history was discussed in a 2017 covering Tom Moisan's retirement: "The two started Ankrom Moisan Architects in a Victorian house in Southeast Portland on Ash Street. 'Within three years we had so many employees (about 12) we couldn't keep them in the house, so we moved,' Moisan said.That was 1986, and the building was a 50s-style building already set up for an architecture firm that had just moved out. After three years they moved again around 1990 to the former headquarters along Macadam Avenue [6720 SW Macadam Avenue], which they bought later on and worked in until last December when they moved to the new 38 Davis location."
