Firm Notes

Blackwell and Baker, Architects, operated in Seattle, WA. In 1909, they had an office in Room #409 of the Mutual Life Building.. (See Plummer's Business and Professional Directory of Seattle, 1909, p. 237.) By early 1910, they moved to Room #415. (See R.L. Polk and Company's Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1910, p. 1914.) After 07/1910 through 1916, they maintained their office in Room #824 of the Northern Bank and Trust Building. (See R.L. Polk and Company's Seattle City Directory, 1916, p. 1652.)

A notice in the American Architect, 01/03/1917, stated: “Messrs. James E. Blackwell and F.L. Baker, who for many years practiced architecture under the firm name of Blackwell & Baker, Seattle, Wash., have dissolved partnership. Mr. Blackwell will continue practicing in the present offices in the Northern Bank Building, while Mr. Baker will open a new office in the Hinckley Block.” (See “Personal,” American Architect, vol.
