This firm maintained its headquarters in New York, NY, but operated an office in Seattle, WA, (under the supervision of A.H. Albertson) during the planning and construction of portions of the Metropolitan Tract in Downtown Seattle beginning in 1907. Between 1903 and 1914, at least, Howells and Stokes had its office in a 17-story highrise at 100 William Street in New York.

The firm, Howells and Albertson, succeeded the Howells and Stokes operation in Seattle. This firm was listed as a Patron, Seattle Architectural Club, Seattle, WA, 1910. Its local representative in Seattle, WA, in 1910, was A.H. Albertson. In 1913, the Seattle office was located at 727 Henry Building, one of buildings in the Metropolitan Tract designed by Howells and Stokes.
