Saunders and Lawton maintained their headquarters in Seattle, WA; Saunders previously practiced with Edwin Walker Houghton from 1889-1891. Lawton had previously worked with Saunders as a draftsman, before becoming elevated to partner.

Classified advertisements for Saunders and Lawton appearing in the Seattle Daily Times on 06/12/1904 (p. 6) and 10/02/1904, (p. 27), indicated that they occupied Rooms #518-519 in the New York Building. On 08/22/1905, another classified ad noted that the office had moved to Room #1319 in the Alaska Building, an office tower they designed in 1903-1904. They remained here as of 06/1907. The firm was a "Patron" of the Seattle Architectural Club in 1910.
