The Marin County Courthouse #1 was located on 4th Street, between A and Court Streets.

Overview

Designed by the San Francisco architectural firm of Kenitzer and Raun, the late Greek Revival Marin County Courthouse #3 replaced the Murphy Adobe that housed court operations from 1853 until 1873. This facility proved even more durable, being used until Frank Lloyd Wright's Marin County Civic Center opened in 1969.

Building History

This was a very well known Neo-classical design by Kenitzer and Raun.

Alteration

The courthouse's tower was taken down before the 1960s.

Demolition

The Marin County Courthouse #3 was demolished by fire on 05/25/1971.
