Wisconsin-born brothers Denman and Burton Schutt designed this residence for the oil magnate, Everett L. De Golyer. The architects of record are known as Schutt and Scott, as Denman Schutt changed his name to Scott before 1927. It is a rare example of their work outside of CA. (Schutt and Scott also did not design that many buildings within CA.) Arthur Berger served as the landscape architect.
