University of California Berkeley Professor H. Leland Vaughan (1905-1974) collaborated with the young landscape architect, Lawrence Halprin (1916-2009), on the landscape design of Alumni House Hall in 1954.

Progressive Architecture magazine awarded the University of California, Berkeley, Alumni House, an award citation in its First PA Design Awards, 1954. The Jury for this award program included: Victor Gruen, Eero Saarinen, George Howe, and Fred N. Severud. Manuscript information and drawings on this building have been archived in the "H. Leland and Adele W. Vaughan Collection, 1931-1956," at the University of California, Berkeley, College of Environmental Design, Environmental Design Archives.
