Overview

The Los Angeles Herald noted in its issue of 10/13/1889, that the architectural firm of Brown and Bradbeer was soliciting construction bids from contractors for a school in the small town of La Liebre. It wrote:"Plans and specification for a one-story School House at La Liebre, Los Angeles county, Cal., can be seen at the office of Brown & Bradbeer, Architects, 24 West First street, Wilson Block. Bids will be received up to October 17th, at 10 o'clock a.m. The Trustees reserve the right to reject any or all bids." (See "Notice to Contractors,"Los Angeles Herald, vol. 33, no. 2, 10/13/1889, p. 5.) This school house was included in a year-end summary of Brown and Bradbeer's work for 1889, listed as having cost $1,500. (See "New Buildings,"Los Angeles Herald, vol. 33, no. 82, 01/01/1890, p. 16.)
