Building History

This WPA-era project, completed in 1936, was a joint collaboration between architects Harold Devine and Starks and Flanders. The Historic American Buildings Survey said of the structure: "Opened in 1936, the brick building with terra cotta and concrete detailing is a modernist interpretation of Spanish Colonial Revival style. The building includes an auditorium, meeting room, branch public library, and pool house. The Clunie Memorial Clubhouse and pool are largely unchanged from the period of significance and are considered as contributory features to the park’s historic significance."
