Overview

Priteca's design for a Pantages Theatre in New Orleans, LA, was never built. A notice appeared in the American Architect and Architecture (as well as Platts Power, vol. 53, no. 13, p. 529) that stated: "Bids are being received by B.M. Priteca, archt, 507-11 Pantages Bldg, Seattle, Wash., for building a 6 story theatre to be erected on Canal & South Rampart Sts., New Orleans. A. Pantages, 3rd & University Aves., Seattle, Wash., owner. $1,500,000." (See "Building News: Louisiana," American Architect and Architecture, vol. CXIX, no. 2363, 04/06/1921, p. 10.)

Members of the American Institute of Architect, Washington State Chapter, included drawings of the New Orleans Pantages Theatre and Office Building in an exhibition at Seattle's Fine Arts Gallery, 1213 4th Avenue, during 04/1922. The Seattle Union Record reported: "Perspectives of a new $2,000,000 theatre in New Orleans will be shown by the Seattle architect B. Marcus Priteca, who also built the Pantages and Coliseum theaters here.” (See “Seattle Architects Will Show Small House Plans,” Seattle Union Record, 04/03/1922, p. 3.)
