Building History

Property owner Fred A. Rood commissioned the Seattle architectural firm of Spalding and Umbrecht a commission for a three-story, $25,000 mixed-use retail and apartment building standing near the intersection of "14th Avenue and 45th Street" what would become University Way NE and 45 Street NE. (See "Apartments and Store near University," Seattle Times, 11/08/1908, p. 35)
