Seattle architect Fred Bassetti (b. 1917), originally designed this house in conjunction with Theo Caldwell's construction firm in 1962. As Bassetti described it, he had an arrangement with builder Caldwell that for every design, he would receive $25; Bassetti envisioned a panoply of tracts to be built, but only three or four individual residences were realized. Architects chadbourne + doss renovated this Mercer Island residence, winning an Honor Award for Washington Architecture from the American Institute of Architects, Seattle Chapter, 2011.
