San Francisco landscape architect Lawrence Halprin (1916-2009) completed the design for Skyline Park.
Denver residents voted in 1967 to create a new city park in the heart of downtown. The Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) collaborated with the City and County of Denver and the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development on this new urban renewal project, known as the "Skyline Urban Renewal Project." DURA commissioned Lawrence Halprin of San Francisco, CA, to design the park completed in 1973.
In 2004, a renovation of the park was completed. The Denver Department of Parks and Recreation along with the city's Public Works, Design and Construction Management Department worked with lead landscape design firm Thomas Balsley Associates, architect, David Owne Tryba, and the Weitz Company, the building contractor.
