Hilltop Lot 24.

Building History

Located on Lot 24 of the Hilltop Community, architects Fred Bassetti (1917-2013) and John Morse (1911-2000) (both Hilltop residents), designed a minimal, one-story residence for Victor and Beth Scheffer, completed in 1951. Morse was the lead designer on the Scheffer House, and seven others at Hilltop, according to the article, "John Morse and Hilltop Community," published in 2001. (See Charles Anderson, "John Morse and Hilltop Community," Arcade, vol. 20, no. 1, Autumn 2001, pp. 33-35.) Other houses designed by Morse as lead included the Jones House (1949), Walter Isaacs House (1950), J.M. Morse House (1950), Birnbaum House (1954), Lerchenmueller House (1956) and Yang House (1959).

A garage was added in 1964.
