A wholesale renovation occurred at Seattle University's main library in 2008-2010. The renovated space opened in 09/2010. The renovation cost $55 million and resulted in the creation of the "Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Common." The library's new restaurant, Byte Cafe, located in the lobby, operated on a 24-hour basis. Pfeiffer Architects of Los Angeles, CA, increased the square footage of the building to 125,000 square feet from a previous 90,000 square feet. Mortenson Construction served as the Building Contractor. Norman Pfeiffer of Pfeiffer Architects graduated from the University of Washington Department of Architecture as an undergraduate in 1964.
