This flamboyant French Romanesque/Gothic/Chateauesque Revival building served as the headquarters of the Heinsbergen Decorating Company, a leading West Coast interior design firm (organized in 1922) specializing in motion picture theatres. It also undertook murals in large public buildings, such as the Los Angeles City Hall #3, and luxury hotels, as at the Beverly-Wilshire Hotel. According to Los Angeles Times real estate writer, Ruth Ryon, the Heinsbergen office building had been "...built on Beverly Boulevard in 1927 from the bricks of the old Los Angeles City Hall." (See Ruth Ryon, "Old Firm Keeps Young Remolding Past : Theaters and Hotels Among Its Major Restoration Projects," Los Angeles Times, 04/28/1985,Accessed 06/25/2012.)
