Building History

James Stephen (1858-1938), the Seattle Public Schools' District Architect between 1899-1908, designed the Summit Elementary School in 1904-1905.

Building Notes

The Summit School occupied land on which the Grace Hospital stood before 1904. Tel: 206.324.2522 (2011).

Alteration

The Seattle Public School District sold the Summit School in 1977, at which time it was remodeled into a commercial office building;

in 1980, it was converted back into educational usage, albeit a private school, as the Northwest School. This entity described itself as a college preparatory and boarding school serving grades 6-12. Tel: 206.682.7309 (2018).
