Wurster designed this house for Dr. Alister McKenzie (1870-1934), a Scottish physician, who was an important golf course designer in the U.S. during the great boom in golf course construction during the 1920s-1930s. McKenzie laid out the Pasatiempo Golf Course for its athletic owner, Marion Hollins (1892-1944).
