Mathurin Dondo (1884-1968) was a Professor of French Language and Literature at the University of California Berkeley. He was one of a number of academic clients that Wurster had in the 1930s.
The Dondo House was a small T-shaped residence erected of cinderblocks. (The cinderblock trade name was "Underdown Block.") The long shaft of the "T" accommodated a large living room that commanded sweeping views of San Francisco Bay.
