Notes:
"The special committee to whom was referred the matter of the bids on the proposed school building on Spring Street, opened at the last meeting, recommended that all bids be rejected. Trustee Brousseau stated that the bids were all too high. The committee had consulted a practical builder, and the bids did not come within $5,000 of his figures. But the principal reason for rejecting the bids was that the Board has not the funds, by several thousand dollars, to erect such a buildings as the proposed Central School. Either a building of less pretensions will have to be erected, or lower bids will have to be received."
