President, Structural Engineers Association of California, 1958-1959. An article in the Architect and Engineer of 01/1958 stated: Henry J. Degenkolb, member of the firm of John J. Gould and H.J. Degenkolb, Structural Engineers, San Francisco, was elected president of the Structural Engineers Association of California at the recent annual meeting in Coronado. Named to serve with him during the ensuing year as the office of the Association was Charles D. De Maria, Secretary. William E. Dreusike has been appointed general convention chairman for the 1958 convention. Degenkolb has been very active in the engineering profession for a number of years and has served as president of SEAONC, numerous committees and is also active in many civic activities." As noted in the 1920 US Census, at age 7, Henry lived in Stephenson, IL, with his two brothers and parents.

He and his wife, Anna, had an apartment at 1521 6th Avenue #1, in early 1940. (See Tacoma, Washington, City Directory, 1940, p. 193.)

By 10/1940, Degenkolb resided at 2101A Webster Street in San Francisco. By 1945, Degenkolb had married and lived at 225 Cabrillo Street in San Francisco. His brother, Oris, lived at the same address in that year. (See San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1945, p. 459.)

Degenkolb was buried at the Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA.

His father, Augustav John Degenkolb (born c. 1876 in Saxony, Germany), resided at 715 Spence Street, Los Angeles, CA, in 1940. His mother was Alice Emmert (born c. 1888 in WI) maintained the household. He had two younger brothers, John (born c. 1915 in IL) and Oris (born c. 1918 in IL).

According to Degenkolb's World War II draft registration card of 10/16/1940, he stood 6-feet tall, weighed 165 pounds and had a light Caucasian complexion with gray eyes and brown hair.
