This office was set up after the very large commission for the Getty Center was obtained in 1985. A new, more elaborate office was opened in 1987.

On 03/2018, Richard Meier stepped down as Managing Partner of his firm for six months, due to sexual harassment allegations from five women, four of whom worked in the firm. According to a press release of 03/13/2018, "While Richard Meier is away, Michael Palladino, partner and head of the company’s Los Angeles office, will oversee all operations and projects of the firm." In 2018, Palladino was a Registered Architect in the States of CA, NY, and HI.
