Building History

The two-story Pacific Land Improvement Company Hotel in Claremont, CA, had a wood frame, contained 40 rooms and cost about $20,000 to build in 1888. John C. Pelton, Jr., (1856-1952) who made something of a specialty of hotel design, drew up the plans for it. (See "J.C. Pelton: Buildings Completed," Los Angeles Herald, 01/01/1889, p. 15.)
