In 1925, D.H. Doud was the Manager of the Blackstone Hotel in Long Beach. (See Long Beach, California, City Directory, 1925, p. 198.)
In the 1940s, the Blackstone Hotel advertised that it had single, double and twin rooms with baths. Following the 1933 Earthquake, postcards for the hotel underscored that the building was "A safe reinforced steel and concrete building," with a "solarium on each floor."
