Substitute Senate Bill 6116 died in a Washington Senate Democratic caucus about 04/21/2009, according to Senator Ed Murray, a Seattle Democrat, who was its main sponsor. The bill would have tapped King County hotel, car rental and restaurant taxes to pay for expansion of the Key Arena; the expansion was demanded by the National Basketball Association as its main requirement for granting a new franchise in the city.
