By 07/30/2008, $1.1 billion of the $2.8 billion allocated by the Washington State Legislature for the replacement of the Alaskan Way Viaduct had already been spent. The main amount of the spent money ($540 million) went toward reconstructing the south end of viaduct between South Holgate Street to South King Street.
