"Mr. Henry Grote, of Hanover, Kansas, has been through the county for the past two weeks looking up a location for a German colony, comprising from thirty to forty families. He is very favorably impressed with the inducements offered, the climate, soil, outlook for the future, etc. Orange presents the most favorable inducements, he thinks, but E.J. Baldwin has offered to sell them 1,250 acres of the Santa Anita Ranch on very advantageous terms. Mr. Grote will go home for his family next Saturday, and return with them shortly."
