"There has been $17,122,207 spent within the city limits of Los Angeles in the last ten years in the construction of theater buildings exclusive of land and equipment, it was revealed yesterday in figurees made public by J.J. Backus, city superintendant of building. During this period, enfing December 31, 1930, ninety theaters have been erected." "In a recently inaugurated construction campaign the United Artists Theaters of California, Inc., announced plans for building twelve playhouses in California, five of these being in the north and seven in Southern California. Walker & Eisen, Ltd., and C.A. Balch are associated architects for these theaters and their sketched of four, which now are under construction, are reproduced in connection with this article."
