"In Woodland Park, each exhibit, such as the African Savanna Exhibit and the Gorilla Exhibit, was located for the best 'fit' between the needed bioclimatic zone and the existing vegetation and microclimatic conditions. Further design considerations were geared toward the animals' welfare first and the visitors' second. This assured a more suitable habitat and enabled visitors to be immersed in the exhibit landscape. The designer's goal, executed with great skill, was to take people from their own backyards and 'transport' them to exoitc regions."
