Notes:
"The setting for this house is the arid California desert near the Nevada border and its famous Death Valley. The architect built it for a couple with two children who operate a grcoery store, gasoline station and a small motel in the vicinity. With a dramatic backdrop of black volcanic mountains, Neutra made this house white for contrast. It consists of three bedrooms, a guest apartment and walled in patio besides the living room and kitchen." (p. 161) One caption indicated the name to be spelled, "Sorell" another said, "Sorrell."
