"The new owner of the Los Angeles Theater, William H. Perry, is proceeding with vigor to transfer that house into an ideal theater. Wood, the famous playhouse builder of Chicago, is here and has already a large force of men at work tearing down and building up. It is the intention to remove the old parquette and large boxes entirely, thus making the dress circle slope all the way down to the orchestra in an unbroken line of plush chiars, and the Patti boxes on either side will be changed, all of which will add about fifty more seats to the lower part of the house. The entire auditorium is to be handsomely decorated in ivory and gold--the most fashionable thing in the way of theatrical embellishment--the stage boxes will be furnished with costly hangings and draperies, incandescent lights will be installed throughout the entire house, new caprets will deck the aisles and a number of other changes made, both in the auditorium and the lobby. When the house is reopened in October it will be spick and span, and as handsome a place of amusement as any city of the Coast contains. Adding to this the central location of the theater anf the fact that nothing but first-class attractions will be presented on its stage, the future success of the house would seem to be assured."
