Notes:
Seattle Post-Intelligencer Architecture Critic, Lawrence W. Cheek, picked out the Westin and Sheraton Hotels in Downtown Seattle for criticism for their "graceless and placeless" appearances. He contrasted them with Bebb and Gould's Times Square Building nearby: "The spiritual contrast of the Westing with the gemlike 1916 Times Square Building across the street is instructive. The little Beaux-Arts building is humanely scaled, richly detailed at every level, and seems to revel in the art of architecture. Its joy is contagious. The Westin couldn't care less." (p. C2)
